Welcome to Mhanzi Music Player (the “App”), developed and published by the developer behind Mhanzi Music Player (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you install or use the App on Android or iOS devices. By using the App you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1.1 Information You Provide

• Account information (optional): If the App offers optional sign-in or cloud backup, you may provide an email address or display name to enable synchronization. Signing in is optional.
• User submissions: If you add an online audio URL, submit feedback, or report a problem, you may provide text, email address, audio samples, logs, or other information voluntarily.
• Preferences: Your selections such as favorites, playlists, theme preference, and app settings.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

• Device information: Information about your device and operating system (device model, OS version), app version, and basic hardware data.
• Usage data: Anonymous or pseudonymous usage metrics such as screens viewed, features used, play counts and crash logs (if you enable diagnostics).
• Connectivity status: Whether your device is online/offline (used to decide whether to allow streaming and to show offline messaging).

1.3 Local Data & Permissions

• Storage/media access: The App requests permission to read audio files on your device so it can list and play local music (MP3, AAC, etc.). Files remain on your device unless you opt into cloud backup.
• Microphone (optional): If you enable voice search, the App may request microphone permission. Voice input is only used for the feature and only sent to third-party speech services with your consent.
• Network/Internet: Required to stream audio, fetch radio lists, and check for updates.
• Notifications: If you enable notifications for playback, notification permission may be requested (Android/iOS).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide and maintain the core App features (local playback, streaming, playlists, favorites).
• Enable optional cloud backup and sync of playlists/favorites (if you sign in).
• Diagnose and fix crashes, improve performance, and analyze usage to enhance the App.
• Respond to support requests and process feedback.

3. Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data in the following limited cases:

• Service providers: Third-party providers that perform services on our behalf (analytics, crash reporting, cloud storage). We limit the data shared to what is necessary for their function.
• Legal requests: We may disclose information to comply with law or respond to lawful requests by public authorities.
• Business transfers: In the event of a merger, sale, or transfer, user data may be transferred under confidentiality obligations.

4. Third-Party Services & Links

The App may use third-party SDKs (for analytics, crash reporting, or streaming directory lookups). These services have their own privacy policies; we encourage you to review them. Examples of services the App may use include Firebase, Radio Browser, or analytics/crash-reporting providers. The App may also contain links to third-party websites; we are not responsible for their privacy practices.

5. Analytics & Crash Reporting

We may use analytics and crash reporting tools to collect anonymized usage data and crash traces to improve the App. You can opt out of analytics where such an option is provided in-app or by disabling diagnostic data sharing in settings (if available).

6. Advertising & Advertising Identifiers

If the App displays ads or monetizes using ad networks, advertising identifiers or non-personalized data may be used according to the Ad Network’s policy. If you plan to use ads, we will disclose the use of advertising IDs and provide opt-out or preferences where required by platform rules and law.

7. Cloud Backup & Sync (Optional)

If you enable optional cloud sync, your playlists, favorites, and certain preferences may be stored in the cloud (for example using Firebase or another cloud provider). You may disable cloud sync and request deletion of your cloud data by contacting us (see Contact below).

8. Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary to provide the App’s features, to resolve disputes, and to comply with legal obligations. Aggregated or anonymized data may be retained indefinitely for analytics and product improvement.

9. Security

We implement reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please avoid submitting highly sensitive personal information through the App.

10. Children

The App is not intended for children under the age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided personal data, contact us to request deletion.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. To exercise those rights or to request data deletion (for example, cloud-stored playlists), contact us at the email below. We will comply with requests to the extent required by law.

12. International Transfers

Your data may be processed or stored outside your country. We will take reasonable steps to ensure adequate protections and safeguards for your data.

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective date” above and notify users through the App or by other reasonable means where appropriate. Continued use of the App after changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
